Last updated on 25 June, 2025

Introduction

We value your privacy and want you to understand how we handle your information when you use the Gyansie application (the 'App') and the associated cloud-based services (collectively, the 'Services'). This policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, and the limited circumstances under which it is shared. We never sell or rent your data.

Scope

This policy applies to personal and non-personal information processed by the App on your device and by our backend systems.

Information we collect

Data You Provide Directly

Account Identifiers — e-mail address, name and Apple ID-related identifiers, tokens used for sign-in via Sign in with Apple and authentication thereafter. With Sign in with Apple, you may choose to hide your email.

User Generated Content – images, documents or other media that you import into the App.

Feedback – optional comments or feedback you send via the in-App feedback mechanisms. If you send us feedback or support requests via email or social media, we may collect your email address or social media handle so that we have a history of your past correspondences with us. If you participate in a customer interview, we may ask for your permission to record the conversation for future reference, and do so if you give your consent.

Data Collected Automatically

Generated data – data generated directly or indirectly via the computational or AI analysis of your uploaded content. This data is used solely within the scope defined in Section 'How we Use Your Information.'

Device and App Telemetry – usage analytics, basic device type, OS version, application version, IP address, coarse location, and crash analytics. This data is anonymized.

Service Events – timestamps of sign-in, upload, navigation, search and similar feature events (no content payloads are logged).

Data from Integrated Services

iCloud Drive – file data and metadata needed to locate and process your assets on your personal iCloud Drive.

Apple Photos – photo identifiers and image data when you grant Photos access, used solely to import and process the items you select.

Data not collected

We don't collect any characteristics of protected classifications including age, race, gender, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity or gender expression, and we do not modify the quality of our service on the basis of these signals.

To protect our users' privacy, we do not automatically store your name or email address on our servers. This impacts the kind of communication we can initiate, but where needed, we communicate with our users through the app. Your name and email visible in the Account section in the app is served from a secure storage location on your device.

How we use your information

To provide, maintain and improve the core experience (e.g. storing and displaying assets, enabling search, providing recommendations).

To authenticate you securely with Apple ID and to keep your session valid.

To enforce fair-use quotas and protect the system from misuse. We pre-analyze content to screen certain kinds of content from being uploaded to our servers or service providers. Content that matches the screening criteria may be subject to alternate processing.

To communicate service-wide notices such as outages, or app updates.

To understand and improve how our App and Services are used, diagnose crashes and improve reliability.

Legal bases for processing

We rely on our legitimate interest to provide the Services and the App, and maintain and enhance the security and performance of the Services. Where consent is required (e.g. Photos, Calendar, Camera access), we will ask for it explicitly.

Sharing & disclosure

No Automatic Social Sharing – The data you upload to the App or Services is not shared with other users of the app unless you explicitly choose to.

No Advertising Partners – While we may promote our own app updates and features, we do not serve third-party ads in our App and Services. We do not sell or rent your personal data, the content you upload or the content that gets generated through your uploads.

Service Providers – We use third-party service providers, such as Microsoft, OpenAI, Google, Anthropic, neo4j, Apple and others to host, analyze and serve data. Providers only receive data strictly necessary to operate the Services. We are not affiliated to or endorsed in any way by our service providers. Our providers may store data longer than we do.

Legal Compliance – We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights, property or safety of Gyansie, our users or others.

Data retention

Account data, assets, search indexes persist while your account is active. You may delete your account at any time from within the app by navigating to the ≡ menu on the landing page and scrolling down to Delete my account and confirming to delete.

Deleted assets are permanently purged from our databases and storage within 30 days.

Diagnostic logs are kept for up to 90 days.

Your rights and controls

You can access, export or delete your data directly inside the App.

Children's privacy

The App is not directed to children under 13.

International transfers

Data may be processed and stored on servers located in India, the United States, or other jurisdictions that may have different data-protection laws.
